CC&TT 2016

Testing to textiles in 2 weeks

A total of twenty international delegates successfully completed ICA Bremen’s ‘Classing & Testing’ training and new, ‘Learning about Machinery’ training last month in Germany.

The six day ‘Classing & Testing’ programme took place in Bremen, Germany from 14 – 21 June and was delivered by industry experts from ICA Bremen and the Bremen Fibre Institute (FIBRE). The training concentrated purely on quality issues in raw cotton.

Two days later, a new, two-day ‘Learning about Machinery’ training course was delivered in Denkendorf, Germany from 23 – 24 June by industry experts from ITV Denkendorf. The training covered a range of textile areas including; spinning, weaving, knitting and finishing.

Following the training, ICA Bremen course deliverer, Karsten Froese, said: “This year’s group of participants came from across the global supply chain, which led to many interesting and stimulating discussions.

“The ‘Classing & Testing’ training offered a unique chance for participants to receive practical training in different kinds of quality measurements and to learn about the influence of cotton quality on processing. We were also able to adapt the training to meet the bespoke needs of participants’ firms, something which we recognise can be of huge benefit.

“The new ‘Learning about Machinery’ training at ITV Denkendorf gave participants an overview of the complete textile process needed to generate a fabric from bales. As well as lectures, processes were explained at the machines which was a unique and valuable experience for the participants.

“Feedback for both training courses was very positive which means we will definitely be running the training again next year.”

The next ‘Cotton Classing & Testing’ and ‘Learning about Machinery’ training programmes will take place in 2017 – the exact dates are yet to be confirmed.
