The scheme involves the assessment and international certification of cotton testing laboratories to implement an internationally recognised standard.
This will establish a list of laboratories located worldwide which meet a standard level of quality assurance, so that they can be used to resolve quality disputes in line with the ICA Bylaws & Rules, as well as provide a service to the cotton industry.
The scheme is available to any individual who has fulfilled the certification criteria and is not on or related to a firm which is on the CICCA List of Unfulfilled Awards.
We have developed the scheme based on ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and CSITC (Commercial Standardization of Instrument Testing of Cotton), as well as building on the good practices of USDA (US Department of Agriculture) and our own laboratory experience, to produce a certification process that will be widely accepted and recognised as being of the very highest standards.

We have adopted the following eight criteria in our certification process:
The annual certification fee is USD $2,000 (+VAT where applicable). The cost of travel and accommodation for on-site inspections every three years must be covered in addition to this fee.
To apply for your laboratory to be certified, simply complete our online application form. A member of our team will then be in contact with information on the next steps.
